We are a family business, founded in 1958 by Salvador Forcadell and Carmen Company, and currently managed by the third generation. From our beginnings, we have worked ethically and professionally, which has consolidated us as one of the leading national companies in real estate services.

1958

Foundation

Salvador Forcadell y Carmen Company create the company

In 1958, Salvador Forcadell and his wife, Carmen Company, marked the beginning of our company by establishing the first office in the heart of Barcelona, at number 75 Tallers Street. This step was a boost to the construction activity that had already been started by Josep Forcadell, Salvador’s father. Thus Forcadell was born, initially focused on the administration and commercialisation of homes and premises, which we built ourselves. Shortly afterwards, we also included those of third parties, making the 20 m2 of Tallers street too small to house the growing activity and our team.

1960

Growing our portfolio of services

Including all types of Real Estate products for rent and sale

At the beginning of the 1960s, we acquired premises at number 77, Carrer Tallers and over time we also expanded Forcadell’s services, and our brokerage grew by offering all types of real estate products for rent and sale, except offices, with the help of professionals specialising in each area. In 1968, trams and depots were no longer in use. Faced with this decline, we negotiated the purchase of a garage in Gràcia, where we built an ambitious project: two and a half floors of underground parking, 20 shops and 128 low-income housing units. This residential development was one of the first milestones for Forcadell, propelling us as property developers.

1970

New headquarters

With the increase in Forcadell’s activity, the team also grew and soon we needed a larger space than Tallers 77. In 1979 the new offices were inaugurated in the building that had been constructed in Plaça Universitat, Forcadell’s current headquarters. These were years in which the sale of homes to its own tenants gained momentum, with a sales operation of almost 400 homes spread over 11 properties in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat standing out.

1980

Fincas Forcadell is born

In order to improve our cutomer service

In this decade, FINCAS FORCADELL was created, a new company that brought together all our services, focused at that time on rental management, homeowners’ associations, real estate agency and insurance. At the same time, with the aim of being closer to the client, we started to expand our territorial presence, opening our first office outside Catalonia, specifically in Palma de Mallorca. In addition, we were one of the real estate agents selected by one of the main banks in Spain to sell its residential assets to the same tenants, selling around 2,000 homes in four years.

1990

Territorial expansion

New offices open in Sarrià, Madrid and Sevilla

The 1990s brought the unexpected death of Salvador Forcadell on 18 April 1993. Despite this loss, we continued to grow territorially: we opened offices such as the one in the Sarrià district of Barcelona, Madrid and Sevilla. Furthermore, in 1997, we acquired the majority of the shares of Fincas Margenat, thus entering the Granollers market. In this context of expansion, we joined the New American International (NAI) network in 1998. That same year, we began our collaboration with the UB, which is the origin of what is now our real estate market report, a benchmark in the analysis of each financial year and the outlook for the sector.

2000

Customer at the centre

Turning point with a new strategic approach

It is a crucial moment in which we defined the basis of the Forcadell we are today, placing the customer and his needs at the centre. This change towards a global service focused on the client brought initiatives such as the creation of the company FORCADELL&RIGAL S.L., which operates in Andalucia, and the organisation of the insurance brokerage service under the umbrella of Segur For Team. Our international dimension also continued to grow, with the first operations with clients in London, Berlin and New York, and with the formalisation of the Global Property Alliance, a network comprising prestigious European agents and an American agent, Studley. At the same time, at a national level, our market reports endorsed our position, contributing value to the entire real estate sector from different areas.

2010

Digitalisation and CSR

Supporting innovation and social commitment

In tandem with changes in management, with the appointment of Ivan Vaqué i Mas as General Manager and the creation of the position of Managing Director, which has since been held by Mireia Vila Forcadell, we promoted a period marked by digitalisation, with projects such as Shopinion, a platform for boosting local commerce in Barcelona, and CLIC for rent, an online solution for self-management of real estate. At the same time, we began our participation in Innomads, the Real Estate innovation hub. This is also a time when our social commitment, in line with the values established by Salvador Forcadell and Carmen Company, is gaining momentum. This led to our collaboration with the Sant Joan de Déu and La Marató initiatives, among others. At the same time, we created the Technical Real Estate Office and got closer to our customers by opening new offices in Terrassa, Sant Gervasi, Gavà and Mollet.

2020

Generational changeover

We begin a new stage full of challenges

The pandemic context marked the beginning of the decade and thanks to our innovative vocation, we managed to open new channels of communication with our clients. With the new normality, at Forcadell we continue to expand our services in areas such as Madrid, incorporating Industrial and Logistics intermediation and Office consultancy. At the same time, we are expanding our network of collaboration with associations such as 22@NETWORK. At the end of 2022, Ivan Vaqué i Mas takes over as CEO from Carles Vila i Polls after 40 years in the top executive position. A change that leads the 3rd generation to start a new business stage full of challenges.

After more than 65 years, today we are in the TOP 10 national agents in the sector, being the eighth with the highest turnover. Our range of services has grown from advice on the purchase and sale and rental of homes, to intermediation in industrial and logistics assets, offices, commercial premises and real estate investment. We also offer insurance coverage, legal advice, property management and comprehensive property refurbishment. In the era of Artificial Intelligence, we remain committed to the transformation of the real estate sector, leading innovative projects that continue to provide the best experience for our customers.
